In 1900 he lived on North Hampton Street, Plymouth Township, Luzerne, Pennsylvania, with his parents, his three older siblings, and his maternal grandmother.[1] Frank's father died when he was about eight years old. The 1910 census shows him living with his widowed mother and two siblings. He was 14, and worked as an errand boy at a planing mill. He did not attend school that year.[2]

On 18 Apr 1917, Frank married Marie Bly in Wilkes-Barre. The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. W. A. Healey.[3] The couple raised six children:

  1. Sarah May Engler
  2. Franklin Eugene Engler
  3. James Edward Engler
  4. Richard Henry Engler
  5. Marian Louise Engler
  6. daughter (still living)

On 5 Jun 1917, Frank registered for the draft in Wilkes-Barre. He was described as tall, medium build, with brown eyes and brown hair. He and Marie lived at 40 East North Street, Wilkes-Barre, and Frank worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad as a stationmaster.[4] In 1920, Frank and Marie lived in Forkston Township, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, with their first two children. He worked as a lumberman.[5] The 1930 census shows Frank and Marie renting a home in Mill City, Wyoming, Pennsylvania with their six children. He worked as a truck driver.[6] In 1940 Frank and Marie owned their home in Mill City and lived there with their four younger children. Frank worked as a carpenter.[7] In 1942 he again registered for the draft, though he never served in the military,[8]

Frank died on 30 Mar 1976 and is buried in Roberts Cemetery, Falls Township, Wyoming, Pennsylvania.[9]
