The Honourable Thomas English M.L.C. passed away in December 1884 at his home in Parkside South Australia and from the Evening Journal of Wednesday 17 December 1884 we see a small plain Death Notice:
ENGLISH.—On the 16th December, at Rathbone House, Parkside, Thomas English, in his 65th year.
However a very comprehensive Obituary can be see in the South Australian Register of Saturday 20 December 1884 and the following extract is from it:
Mr. English leaves a widow and four daughters— Mesdames T. G. Brown, jun., P. H. Burden, and H. J. Southwell, and Miss English, He has also one son, Mr. Joseph English, and a brother,Captain English, J.P., who is at present in this city.
The remains of the late Hon. Thomas English, M.L.C., were interred in the West terrace Cemetery, on Thursday afternoon. December 18. The City Council adjourned their fortnightly meeting out of respect to Mr. English, and attended the funeral. The cortege consisted of the hearse, five mourning coaches, and a long procession of private vehicles. The service was conducted by the Rev. D. Paton, M.A., and at the grave there were a large number of persons present to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased gentleman.

English, Thomas- died: 17/12/1884 - Interred: 18/12/1884. Location: Road 3, Path 29, Aspect E, Site Number 40.
