NOTE: Not to be confused with the Abraham George Ennis (same name) born in 1856 also in Channel Islands, or Abraham's son Arthur George Ennis who ALSO died in 1940, or Abraham George Ennis junior (his son).

Abraham was born in 1855. He was the son of Abraham and Mary Ann Ennis. His father was a master Currier. A year later another Ennis family had a son Abraham George Ennis who was born on the Channel Islands as well.

The 1861 Census shows him having 2 sisters and a younger brother. Their maternal grandfather also appears living in the household. By 1871 he had gained another sister.

Abraham arrived in New Zealand in 1874 in the company of his uncle Henry Powell. They had travelled on board the ship Peeress, from London, which arrived 23 July 1874 Timaru. Abraham was 16 years old.

He married Angelina Faith Webster three years after arrival in 1877.

He passed away in 1940. He was buried in Timaru Cemetery in a plot that was purchased in 1901. His wife, Faith, was buried there before him in 1938. The grave is at Row 26 Plot 210. Apparently their son Bertie (Abraham Junior died 1891) is buried here also, but is not on the headstone.

Abraham named one of his son-in-laws, Ferme Herriot, as his trustee and executor of his will.
