Biography

Relatives and friends have received word of the death of George Ennis of Rockaway Beach, L.I. Mr. Ennis, who is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Arthur Ennis, formerly Miss Mabel Shepard of this city died in his home in Rockaway Beach, Wednesday, following a long illness. The remains will be brought to this city Saturday morning for interment in the Shepard – Ennis lot in Brookside cemetery. Mr. Ennis had never lived here, but had many friends here having visited in Watertown on several occasions. Mrs. Mabel Shepard Ennis is a cousin of Henry A. Hickonk of 217 Paddock street, this city. Mr. Ennis is well known in Rockaway Beach, where his family are prominent landowners. Mr. Ennis was a contractor for a number of years. George W. Ennis, aged 36 years, a life-long resident of this place, died last Tuesday at his home at 301 Bayside place after an illness of eight weeks. He is survived by one brother, Arthur B. Ennis, and one sister, Mrs. Esther M. Prince, both of this place. The funeral will be held from the home to-morrow, Friday, afternoon, at 3 o'clock, the Rev. John C. Green, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. The interment will be in Brookside Cemetery at Watertown, N. Y. The Wave, Rockaway Beach, N.Y., Thursday, September 16, 1920
