MRS. JOHN McBEE 81 YEARS OF AGE, DIES First white child born in Waverly--Lived whole life in this county Mrs. John McBee, died at the Confederate Home Hospital Sunday morning after a long illness. She was 81 years old, and had lived the whole of her life in Lafayette County. Mrs. McBee was formerly Miss Texarkana Ennis, and was born in Waverly in July 1846. At the close of the Civil War, she was united in marriage with John McBee. Mr. And Mrs. McBee reared a family of eight children, five of whom survive as follows: Mrs. Ed Hunstable and Mrs. Fred Campbell of Santa Barbra, California; Charles McBee of Billings, Montana; Mrs. Clint Wilson and Mrs. John Schowe of Waverly. Thirteen grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, also, survive. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. A. C. MacKinney of Lexington. He read the same service which he used for Mr. McBee a few years ago. Burial was beside her husband in the Confederate Cemetery with the old comrades acting as pallbearers. Mrs. McBee's kind and pleasant disposition made her greatly loved by the people of the (Confederate) home. Transcribed by Myrtle Mandane Ennis--Texie's first cousin 3 times removed--(her great grandfather William Tennant Ennis was a half brother of Texie's father Cornelius Ennis.
Texie had one daughter in Goliad Co, Texas and another daughter in Elkton, Todd County, Kentucky and 1909-1914, Texie and John were in Muskogee, Oklahoma
