Mrs. Ed Shuffett had been despondent for some time, claiming that she was seeking religion and could not find it. Her husband left the dwelling and when he returned his wife was absent. After looking for some time he found her near the dwelling burned almost to death. He picked her up, carried her to the house where she told her husband that she had saturated her clothing with coal oil, set herself afire, for the purpose of ending her life; that she did not have religion and could not get it. She died in an hour or two after telling her story.
