Hi Allan! In case you missed it during the noon Hangout - you won a prize. Congrats!
To claim it, you need to comment on the post in the G2G thread. (You only have a couple of hours left to do so - prize winners have until the next Hangout to claim their prize.)
Hi Allan, I don’t know whether you intend to go back and edit some of the profiles you created during the thon, but I’ve reworked the profile for Sarah (Fairhurst) Filcock (bef.1813-1883) and in the process found her baptism, so changed the date and place of birth on her profile. We find it best to look for a birth or baptism record when creating English profiles since it helps to avoid duplicates, although I know it’s hard when you are creating so many in such a short space of time!
Let me know if you need some help with the other English profiles you created, a lot of them didn’t have the country name “England” in the location fields, which can make it difficult for the English project teams to find the ones that need fixing up.
Best regards and congratulations on your thon score!
Thanks for your question on Ask Ales - I learned a lot. I believe profiles for wiki games may have marriage dates (because suggestions 131 132 133 and 134 may have a marriage date). Also, the suggestion results are in a guesstimate date order, so you can focus on more solvable ones. I think a fair number of the more recent births are people who have a marriage date and may have married prior to the 1921 census, so if you have that, they may be quite solvable. I suggest you may wish to start with https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Automated:DD_Suggestion_List_ENG_CHS or https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Automated:DD_Suggestion_List_ENG rather than from a Wikitree+ query. And if you do use a Wikitree+ query, you may wish to include 19cen which will limit the results to likely 19cen (I.e. more easily solvable) Good luck on the games!
Thanks for looking into ways to improve profile creation! I noticed you were asking about checking bio check and also wikitree+. A lot of the wikitree+ issues don't come up in a report, but you can find location formatting problems by looking for unknowncountry and unknownregion - which may mean omitted country or region, abbreviations, wrong order, or lack of commas separating town, county, country
Thanks for all the profiles you make. I have been running into them when I have been using Bio Check to look for recently made Lancashire profiles that are not sourced. My intent is to help people new to WikiTree and model proper sourcing for them. You may want to look at profiles you have made e.g. https://plus.wikitree.com/function/WTWebProfileSearch/Profiles.htm?Query=created%3Dcreated_2024+created%3Dcreator_Entwistle-620&MaxProfiles=15000&Format= and then click the Bio Check option at the top to find those that do not appear to be sourced. I know you have sources but they are not clearly cited so they appear to be unsourced. I am not sure if you use the Sourcer browser extension, but it might help you make profiles that are more clearly sourced without slowing you down.
Have you brought up these problems with Rob (the developer of Sourcer)? I see from a G2G post he recognizes it doesn't always work ("I added “Save Person Data” for FMP tree person pages to Sourcer for completeness but it does seem fragile.")
Thank you so very much for the work you have done on Harriet Ann Easedale nee Hunt's profile, Hunt-30239, such a lovely surprise to see those Census records with such freshness and clarity.
Thank you for answering my question during yesterday's "Ask Ales" about finding the "first connectors" to the tree. I tried your solution an it worked perfectly.
The Connect-a-Thon was fun, we hope you enjoyed yourself and are recovering. Thank you for helping, it is appreciated.
Our teams did really well. Our big Mighty Oaks Team came first overall, and our Little Mighty Oak Branches Team was in the top 5 on the Normalised Score. The combined score of our two teams was 11109. A total of was 95,575 new profiles added by all during the thon.
Thank you for adopting the 8 Cheshire Braddocks, I created them as part of the Braddock Name Study in 2016 and ended up researching 96% of all Braddock's born in England and Wales born between the years 1839 - 1940. I look forward to seeing how you will improve upon them.
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

This will show you birth location problems AND profiles with only a country (you can add some sql nots to remove them): https://plus.wikitree.com/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=created%3Dcreator_Entwistle-620+birthcountry%3Dunknowncountry+or+created%3Dcreator_Entwistle-620+birthregion%3Dunknownregion&MaxProfiles=500&Format=&SortOrder=BiLoc&PageSize=200 (you can do the same with death and marriage)
It was so much fun leap frogging with you during the CaT... seems we've done this before!
Congrats & thank you from across the pond 🏆
