DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:

Hi Robert,

It looks like you have some outstanding merges that need attention. You can find them by following the link at the top of this page under >My Wikitree>Watchlist, then hit the button that says Pending Merges. If you need help, just ask. Thanks for helping with Wikitree

Hi Robert,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Robert,

As a reminder, WikiTree is a single family tree where every person is represented by only one profile. I noticed that you have created numerous duplicates. Please make sure you are checking for existing profiles before creating new profiles.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Welcome R.E., and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing

I have a question. Would it be logical or illogical to add a GEDCOM of my tree on Ancestry to Wikitree?
posted by Robert Epp
Hi R.E.,

Thank you for your message, yes you can add a GEDCOM, there is a limit of 5,000 names with one. The GEDCOM will not automatically populate your tree, it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting suggested matches, once you have done this any remaining names will need to be added manually. The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

Adding a GEDCOM is a quick way of adding people, and GEDCOM Biographies will help you with editing them. It is best to add sources and a biography as you go along, and doing this to each profile that you create before moving on to the next one will save you time. The GEDCOM will stay on your account for 60 days after the last edit that you do, so you don't have to rush and get them all added quickly.

I hope this helps, any problems, please let me know

have a happy new year

Take care

Karen 🤗
