Biography
Judge J. Money Epperson, aged about seventy-seven, a prominent farmer of Knox County, died at the home of his son, W.H. Epperson, here last Friday evening at 5:00, only being ill one week and two days.
The death of this good man came as a shock to his many friends in Macon and adjoining counties and here he was widely know.
Mr. Epperson, since the death of his wife three years ago, had made his home with his son, Leonard Epperson and family, at the old farm house a few miles northwest of Locust Hill and was here on a visit to his son and family when he was stricken.
Mr. Epperson took quite and interest in public affairs and served as County Judge one term in Knox County. For thirteen years he was president of the Novelty State Bank.
Mr. Epperson was married to Miss Mary Ellen Hill in 1880 and seven children were born to this union, one dying in infancy. The living are: W.H. Epperson of La Plata, G. R. Epperson of Edina, John O. Epperson of Atlanta, Miss Lucy Epperson of New York, H.L. Epperson of Hurdland and Mrs. Amma Botts of near Brashear. He is survived by six brothers and two sisters, John, J.B., W.D., A.S., W.O. and Gilbert Epperson, all of Macon County, and Mrs. P.C. Doggett and Mrs. Howard Doggett, also of Macon County. There are eleven grandchildren also.
His six brothers were present for the funeral and acted as pallbearers. The funeral services were held on Monday at his farm home, at 2:30, conducted by Rev. George Edwards and S.L. Pettus of Macon. Burial was made at the home cemetery nearby.
