Biography

From her obituary, "Mrs. Lucy Smith, one of the oldest residents of Putnam County died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.M. Yates near Hartford last Tuesday night. Deceased was about 88 years of of age and came to Putnam County with her husband in 1848. Mr. Smith was for several years surveyor of Putnam County. A son, Stark Smith and two daughters, Mrs J.M. Yates and Mrs. William Millirons are left to mourn her loss. Aunt Lucy as she was familiarly called by her friends was honored and respected by all who knew her."[1]
