Biography

Daniel was born in 1728. He died in 1781.

Land grants issued 3 Sep 1799 for land on the Yadkin River. They both died before the first census. All: Estate settlement 1782, Montgomery Co.,NC NC Land Grant #4011m 3 Sep 1779, Land on Yadkin. In Feb 1779, Montgomery Co., formed from northern part of Anson County. Daniel born after Sept 1728 as he was under 21 on 16 Sept 1749 when he was mentioned in the will of his granfather Daniel Epes. He married Anne and moved from Sussex County to the part of Anson Co., NC which became Montgomery County before 5 sept 1779 when he was granted land on the Yadin River. He died before Dec 1781 when administration his estate was grant to Ann Epes, widow. Francis Mabry, his stepfather, provided security for the widow's bond. The list of personal effects in the estate inventory is informative as to the may of life o the family. We discern that Daniel had become quite properous with goods worth more than 150 pounds , a considerable sum at the time. His possession of a varity of tools tells us that, besides his ocupation of farming, he was probabl a builder and craftsman with wood. His Book of Common Prayer, hymnals, and sermon books suggest that he was probably carryin on the faily tradition as an active parishioner of the Church of England.
