Biography

Eric was born[1] in Nordibyn, Äppelbo, Kopparberg, Sweden on 20 Jul 1855 and baptized two days later. He was the son of Caren Nilsdotter and Eric Olsson, who were not married at the time. They did later marry[2] on 12 Apr 1867.

1873-1884

From 1873 through 1878, Eric lives in the household[3][4] of his parents in Nordibyn, Äpplebo parish, Kopparberg county, Sweden. Eric's parents are crossed out at the top of the page since they passed away during this time. His father Velam Eric Olsson, born[5] 10 Jan 1810 in Nordibyn, died[6] on 8 Jul 1874 of unspecified causes, and his mother Carin Nilsdotter, born[7] 2 Sep 1820 in Könsta, died[8] of pneumonia("Lungsot") on 20 Oct 1875.

Immediately below them is one couple, Eric's brother-in-law Knuts Per Persson (born[9] 25 Sep 1843 in Storbyn) who became the husband of one of Eric's older twin sisters, Cherstin Ersdotter (born[10] 2 Sep 1853 in Ofvanheden), after they married[11] on 8 Dec 1878.

Flag of Sweden
William (Ersson) Erickson migrated from Sweden to America.
Flag of America

Eric is grouped further down with his wife Carin Ersdotter (born[12] 3 Mar 1860 in Rågsveden) who he married[13] on 25 May 1879. There is a note that Eric and his wife left for North America on 9 Jun 1879, which is confirmed in the register of emigrations("utflyttade")[14] for 1879.

Also grouped with Eric is his other twin sister Carin Ersdotter, like her twin born[15] on 2 Sep 1853 in Ofvanheden, and her daughter Cherstin, born[16] outside of marriage on 6 Jul 1879 in Nordibyn.

The twin sisters are grouped with a bracket and the word for twins, "tvillingans". There is a note ("deras före ahtenskapet") above Eric and each of his twin sisters' names that they were born before their parents married. Everyone in the house has been vaccinated against smallpox("koppor").

Life in the United States

He appears in the 1895 Minnesota State Census[17] as a 39-year-old farmer along with is wife, now using the name Carrie Erickson. They have been in Minnesota for 15 years and in Warren Township for 14. They have six children in the house: Alfred(15), Emma(12), Charley(10), Annie(8), Oscar(5), and Arthur Victor(3). On the farm next to him is his sister-in-law Christine Faller with her husband Lars and three children: Erick(15), Emma(13), and Amanda(11).

Death

Eric passed away on 30 Jun 1931 in Warren, Marshall, Minnesota,[18][19][20] and is buried[21] in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren with his wife.[22]
