Biography

Otis was born in 1891.[1] James married Alice Birkhimer in 1915.[2] They were living in Zanesville in 1930.[3] He passed away in 1978.[4]


Otis Ervens Observe Their 50th Wedding Anniversary

"Mr. and Mrs. James Otis Erven of 801 Monroe street observed their 50th wedding anniversary on July 3. No celebration was held. The Ervens were married in Cambridge and have lived in Zanesville since 1925.

Mrs. Erven is the former Alice May Birkhimer, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Birkhimer of Cambridge. Mr. Erven's parents, A.L. and Etta Erven, also lived in Cambridge.

Mr. Erven was employed by the Byesville Glass Company, in charge of the mould shop, and later as a mould maker for the Continental Can Company. He retired eight years ago after 50 years in the glass industry. He is a member of the Glass Workers Union Local 121 and is a 32nd degree Mason.

The Ervens have two sons, Lt. James S. Erven, U.S.N. and Delno Erven of Military road. There are two grandchildren."[5]
