Biography

Previous versions of this profile suggested that Sophia was the wife of Jeremiah Claunch. While the identity of Jeremiah's wife, Margaret MNU, remains uncertain, the Sophia who was a daughter of Nathaniel Erwin cannot possibly be Jeremiah's wife. Sophia's and Jeremiah's profiles have been edited to resolve the confusion.

The Sophia who was the daughter of Nathaniel Erwin was born about 1785, probably in York County, South Carolina. She was named in her father's will 13 December 1793 and was still an underage child in 1796.

She reportedly married John Darnell and moved to Hardeman Co., TN.

I DNA match two people allegedly descended from Sophia. How do we know *anything* about Sophia when there are no sources?
