Biography

Isa was born on 20 May 1889. She was the daughter of Alexander Esson and Helen (ms Grant).

She appears on the 1891 Census at Milton, Leochel Cushnie along with her parents and older siblings - Mary, Eliza and William.

On the 1901 Census, Isa's older siblings have left home and there are 3 younger sisters and 1 brother - Helen, Alexander, Barbara and Jane.

On the 1911 Census, Isabella Ann Esson (age 21) is working as a Domestic Servant at the home of John Dunn (farmer).

She married James Rettie on 01 July 1914. Her address was given as south Croft, Cairncoullie, Leochel Cushnie. The witnesses were Helen Esson and Alexander Rettie.

Isabella and James had 4 children: James, Amy, Elsie and Alexina.

She passed away in 1940.

Esson-56 and Esson-26 appear to represent the same person because: I believe these are the same person as I know Isabella or Isa Ann is the person in my family and there seems to be only one in Aberdeenshire at the time
