Biography

Mary was born 12 February 1883 at about 8:00am at Milielhead (sp?) Cottages, Towie. Alexander Esson - Farm Servant and Helen Esson (m.s. Grant) Who married 9th December 1882 in Towie.

Mary was listed as a Housekeeper on her marriage registration, living at Cairncoullie Croft (the location of the marriage)

1891 Census listed Mary Esson (Born Towie, Abrdeenshire) living at Milton, Leochel-Cusnie with her parents and 3 younger siblings

1901 Census listed Mary Esson (born in Towie, Aberdeenshire 1883) as a single Domestic Servant to James and Barbara Ellis at Cairncoullie Mains, Leochel Cushnie

1911 Census [1] has 28 year old Mary Esson as house keeper to 40 year old Peter Ingram at Belnakally in Leochel Cushnie

1921 Census [2] has Mary Ingram as38 years 4 months and born in Towie. She is wife of Peter Ingram (51 Years 2 months, farmer born Leochel Cushnie) and daughter Mary (8 years 9 months)

She passed away about 03 April 1941 3:40pm Cause listed as Chronic nephritis. Hyperpiesia, Hypostatic Pneumonia at Old Mains, Cushnie with her husband present

The said child she gave to Alexander Kellas Tillyduke, a married man. He having denied the same – in obedience to the order of the Presbytery the said child was bapd 22nd April 1845 (a proper sponser being obtained) named [blank] :Could this child be related to this Mary Esson and this be the reason why John and Mary were not permitted to marry?

As Mary got married November 1911, she should show up in the April 1911 Census but does not as at records available 26/04/2017.

There is a possible record of Mary Esson going to Cananda in 1907 with Jessie and Bella Esson (nurse aged 25) - all adult females. The Bella is listed as 25 which would be the wrong age for Mary's sister.
