Silas was born in 1803, the son of Silas and Mary Ann (Peters) Estes.
He married (Unknown) at Adams, Berkshire, MA about 1825 and had 8 children: Mary Jane, Bertram Oscar, Franklin Shubael, Cynthia, Benjamin C., Phebe Catherine, William Henry and Susan Emeline Estes
