Biography
John Levi Estes was born on 20 Sep 1900 in Clyde, Callahan County, Texas. He was the son of Sol Estes and Allie Hancock. His father died in 1908. The 1910 census[1] lists John as living with his family in Callahan, Texas where his mother is managing the family farm.

On 11 Aug 1921 John married[2] Lillian Coffman in Callahan, Texas. Between 1923 and 1939 Lillian gave birth[3][4] to their six children. The youngest, Robert (or Diehlman) is not thought to have lived long. The 1940 census[5] shows John raising his family in Callahan, Texas where he is farming.
