Biography

Thomas Etherington was born in 1851 in York, Yorkshire, England to William Etherington and Caroline (Beadenkopfer) Etherington. His birth was registered in York in the third quarter of the year.^[1]

Thomas "Hetherington" was christened at Saint Margaret, York on 11 Aug 1851.^[2]

In 1861 Thomas Etherington (age 9, Scholar) lived at Charles Street in St George, York with his father William (29, Stoker at Waterworks), mother Caroline (29), and four siblings: Sarah E (8, Scholar), William H (5, Scholar), Mary (4, Scholar), and Colenial (2).^[3]

In 1871 Thomas Etherington (age 19, House Porter) lived in St Olave Marygate, Yorkshire (in the employ of a boy's boarding school).^[4]
