Biography

• An Obituary in Lithgow Mercury dated December 18, 1975 reads:
• A large crowd gathered in St. Paul's Church of England yesterday afternoon for the Funeral Service of the late Mr. George Evans. Mr. Evans, who had operated a butcher's shop in Main Street for more than 25 years, died in Lithgow Hospital on Sunday at the age of 70 years. He had retired from his business more than three years ago and had been living in Maple Crescent until shortly before his death.
• The Rev. Roy Buckingham conducted the Service and later officiated at the graveside in Lithgow Cemetery.
• Pallbearers were Allan and George Evans and John Gray (nephews) and Russ Johnson (nephew-in-law). Wood and Wood were in charge of the funeral arrangements."
• George was buried at Lithgow General Cemetery, Bowenfels (Ang.2 -7B). He had been a member of City of Lithgow RSL and Lithgow Workmens Club.
