Biography

Enlisted in Company F of the First Michigan Cavalry on August 20, 1861, at Lapeer, Michigan. He was listed as having deserted that regiment on October 29, 1861. On September 3, 1864, he enlisted in Company G of the Reorganized Fourth Michigan Infantry, at Dryden, Michigan, for 3 years, at age 22. His brothers Clark and Andrew were also enlisted in the same company and regiment. He was discharged to date of March 31, 1866, under provisions of Act of Congress approved on July 5, 1884.

He died of chronic nephritis.
