Lewis Evans and Martha Hoskins were married at Christ Church in Philadelphia. Ben Franklin employed him as a clerk. He became a surveyor and his most influential works were A Map of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and the Three Delaware Counties and A General Map of the Middle British Colonies in America. They were used for years to come to establish boundaries and was useful during the French and Indian War. He died in New York while imprisoned for slander on Lieutenant Governor Robert Morris of Pennsylvania. He is buried in Christ Church Burying Ground where Ben Franklin is also buried.

I have seen other sources on him that give the same information, but I may be wrong. and may just be missing something, if that is so feel free to change it back. I have changed the birth date as some of the sources already cited list his birth as c. 1700.
