Biography
Jane was baptised on 22 February 1778 in Bisley by father Daniel. [1] (Daniel's wife was Hannah Bennett).
Jane Arundel and William Phelps of Coates, Gloucestershire married on 5 September 1790 in Sapperton, Gloucestershire [2]
In 1851 Jane was widowed and living in Bisley with daughter Ruth in Bisley, the town she listed as her birthplace. She was listed as a Pauper Agricultural Labourer and Ruth as a 'pauper idiot'. [3]
Jane died aged 82 in 1858 and was buried in Bisley on 22 May. [4] She had been living in Stroud Workhouse. Ruth had died in 1856.
Research Note
Jane was originally attached to 'parents' Mark Arundel (1724-) and Ann Hyde (abt.1725-) but there is no evidence to suggest she was born in Yorkshire - quite the contrary. They have been disconnected.
