Frederick William Evans was born 1850 and baptised in the same year at Lindenow, then in the Colony of New South Wales. He was the son of Joseph Evans and Sophia Ruxton. [1] The following year, what was formerly known as the Port Phillip District, became the Colony of Victoria.

Widowed. Janet died in 1924 and her obituary dealt comprehensively with their movements since their marriage in 1869.

[Frederick] was a butcher and in addition engaged in farming there [in Gippsland, Victoria] until 1893, when they moved to Packenham. A year later they moved to Berwick and then to Clyde and Shepparton, where they remained for six years. Then the family came to New South Wales and for two years Mr. Evans senr. engaged in farming. Then he came to Wagga, purchasing New Lawn Estate and also the property known as Slocum's subdivision near the Wagga racecourse. For about four years they lived at Wagga and then went to Bon Accord and in 1920 they moved to Sydney, where they have remained ever since. [3]
