Thomas was born in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts about 1725, the son of Thomas Evans and Dorothy Stockman.[1][2] Thomas married Ruth Ballard (dau. of Sherebiah and Lydia Ballard) on 03 Jul 1744 in Holland, Hampden, Massachusetts. [3]
In his will written 6 June 1797 (probate 5 October 1802), Thomas Evans bequeaths to beloved wife Rebekah the personal estate she brought at the time of the marriage. She receives other items for her support and the improvement on all of the real estate but notes that his current estate is small and if it is not sufficient for her support then all or part of it can be sold. He bequeaths four dollars to each of his beloved children: Thomas Evans, Sherebiah Evans, Ruth wife of Thomas Rich Upton, Lydia wife of Thomas Cowdry, Anna wife of Jacob Beard, and Sarah wife of Samuel Phillips Eaton. Grandson Thomas Evans Upton son of Thomas Rich Upton receives the remainder of the estate. Son-in-law Thomas Rich Upton is named sole executor. Real estate was 33-acre farm with house and barn valued at $950 and personal estate $232.16.[4]
