Two paternal lines: Evans and Crowe to Counties Kerry and Clare in Ireland. Two maternal lines: Woodbury and Head to the 1620's and the original settlers of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
I was born in Massachusetts, and lived there for 30 years. I then lived in the Denver, Colorado area for 6 years, in New Orleans for 1 year, in New Hampshire for 10 years, and retired to Maine.
My introduction to genealogy happened in 2010. A cousin I never knew existed sent a document to another cousin-in-law, and the document eventually arrived in my email. I didn't realize it, but I was looking at an Ahnentafel printout. I'm glad I worked my way through the many pages, because my mother was listed at the end of the report. My sister and I decided we had to figure out who all these people were. Both our parents had died by this time, so we were starting with a blank page. We learned that the markers in Beverly, Massachusetts, and the street names in Rockport, Massachusetts were for our ancestors. Genealogy has become my passion.
Since I started with genealogy just as records were becoming more widely available online, that's how I learned to do research. I am not a paper person, so I never created notebooks for family lines. WikiTree is the perfect solution for me.

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. Please review the following and let us know if you are content where we have placed you or would like to be more involved.
We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
You're currently identified as a member of the Voyage Team and we are so grateful to have you there helping so many of our Voyagers. Please let us know if you are interested in working with any of the other Teams.
We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. When you request to join, please be sure to include your Wiki ID. It isn't required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:
We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.

However, there is a new browser extension called WikiTree Sourcer [1] https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Sourcer With this extension, when you are on a census record, you just go to the menu and it creates a table for you. Let me know if you need more help, I'll be glad to go into detail.

I'm researching my ancestors: the 1st to settle in Quebec, Canada. Many were soldiers and Filles du Roy. Gail
I've seen these records and have them in my research but not sure how to add records to Wiki tree. Gail
Let me know if you want more help. I am a member of the WikiTree Profile Improvement Project, and if you are interested, sign up for a Voyage. Thank you, Kathy!
I can't find much on Desire. This is the marriage record, under Gary https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/22608769?h=83c1ce&utm_campaign=bandido-webparts&utm_source=post-share-modal&utm_medium=copy-url
I think you should merge them, they are the same woman.
Thanks! Great job!
Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
Debi
PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
It's great to meet another Lane descendant here! My line comes from Josiah and Abigail's son Isaac, who actually isn't on here yet. I'm in grad school and I don't really have the time to manage this account, I just couldn't bear to see it without a manager. Let me know if you would like to take over management or co-manage it.
Welcome! Lauren-Kate
I would be glad to be co-manager of Josiah.
I'm still working on my GEDCompare report, only about 1/4 through it. Once I've worked through that report I will be adding many more Lanes to the WikiTree! ~Kathy
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Because pre-1700 ancestors are usually shared by many descendants, collaborating with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)
Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).

One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

Congratulations on becoming a Family Member of WikiTree! I'm a volunteer greeter, here to answer any questions you may have about WikiTree.
Our New Member How-To pages can help you get started adding profiles or just learning your way around.
Welcome to the community! I hope your WikiTree journey will be as fruitful and enjoyable as mine has been.

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To be able to add profiles, you will need to upgrade (there is no cost). You can do this from your Upgrade page. Just answer the five questions, e.g. who you want to communicate with, if others can see your family tree, what surnames, locations, or topics interest you, etc, and click on the green box that says "Upgrade”.
Upgrading just means you will become a Family Member with the ability to work on your immediate ancestors to help us achieve our goal of joining all individual family trees into one global family tree.
I hope this helps! If you have any problems, let me know.
Take care!
Pippin ~ WikiTree Greeter
