On 16 August 1950, Joseph married Phyllis Tammaro in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
Joseph died at the age of 77 on 21 July 2001 in Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts, and is buried in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree MA. [3][4][5]
