"I am a direct descendant of a William Evans who lived in Wilkes, but that portion of the county became Taliaferro County (Wilkes was split-up). His name was William Evans, Sr., born about 1751 in Caroline County VA. He joined the North Carolina Continental Army about 1777 as they marched toward GA. After his 18 months was up, he joined the GA Militia and was part of that until 1780. After his time was up, he obtained 400 acres and married Tabitha Thompson. He died in 1841, shortly after obtaining a pension for his service in the Rev War. I am related thru his son Jesse."

Evans-23331 and Evans-342 are not ready to be merged because: There was a conflict between two men named William Evans at the time Evans-23331 was created that has not been satisfactorily resolved. While these two profiles appear to be the same, the conflict still needs to be resolved.
Evans-23331 and Evans-342 appear to represent the same person because: Similar birth, death info and children are mentioned in bio.
I added profile for William Evans Jr. with sources. I hope that this helps with your research. I am looking for a Mary Evans that possibly married Wiley Saxon in Taliaferro County, Georgia before 1816. If anyone knows about this one please let me know.

The William Evans in this profile was not an officer in the 10th Virginia Regiment. He was in the North Carolina Continental Army and later the Georgia Militia. http://revwarapps.org/s31670.pdf
