Thomas was born about 1797 in Berks County, Pennsylvania and relocated to Ohio between 1829-1841. He married four times, with children from at least three of his marriages. His first wife, Martha Doubler, passed away in 1825 in Milta, PA, after having at least one son, Frank Evans. He second married the widow Phebe (Nevius) Hayden in 1830. They had five children who survived to adulthood:
Phebe passed away in 1843, and Thomas third married Ann Cooper, widow of Robert Rogers,[1] with whom he had one child, James Cooper Evans (1845-1901). The 1850 Census enumerated the blended family in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, with the household consisting of Thomas Evans (53, PA, Farmer), Ann Evans (45, PA), Mary Evans (12, PA), Susan Evans (10, PA), James C Evans (5, OH), Thomas Evans, Jr (23, PA), George Rogers (13, OH), and Henry Rogers (12, OH).[2]
Ann passed away in 1854, and Thomas fourth married Naomi (Mitchell) Young, widow of James L Young, in September 1855. They had no children.
Thomas passed away in 1888 and is buried at Mound View Cemetery in Knox County, Ohio.[3]
