Biography

Abigail Evans was the seventh of eleven known children of Amos Evans and Margaret Evans (no relation). She was born on 2 June 1785 in York County, Pennsylvania. She moved with her family as a young child to the wilds of Hopewell Township in Bedford County, PA...in what would become Broad Top Township in 1834.

She married James Figard about 1814. They would have only one child, Amos Figard, born on 31 December 1814. Elizabeth would die just a few days later, on 5 January 1815. She was buried in the Evans Cemetery in Coaldale, Bedford County, PA.
