Elizabeth Evans was born about March 1647, possibly in Kerry, Montgomeryshire, Wales. She might be the daughter of Lewis Evans and Lucy Evans. There are no references for her birth or her parents.

She married Samuel Griffith by about 1670, possibly in Calvert County, Maryland.

  1. Elizabeth (Griffith) White was born about 1675 in Cool Springs, Manor County, Maryland. She married 1) Guy White, 2) John Evans, and 3) Francis Colier.
  2. Mary (Griffith) Bowers was born about 1689 in Maryland. She married a man with the last name of Bowers.
  3. Samuel Griffith was born about 1681 in Saint James Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He married 1) Sarah Evans and 2) Ann Skinner.
  4. Sarah (Griffith) Duvall was born about 1685 in Saint James Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She married Mareen Duvall.
  5. Rachel (Griffith) Giles was born about 1689 in Saint James Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She married John Giles.
  6. Rebecca (Griffith) Mobley was born about 1696 in Calvert County, Maryland. She married Edward Mobberly.
  7. Martha (Griffith) Evans married a man with the last name of Evans.

Death

The will of Elizabeth Griffith was a simple list of gifts to women who are presumed to be her married daughters or granddaughters. An abstract follows:

16 DEC 1718 I Elizabeth Griffith wife of Samuel Griffith dec. being part administrator of the last will of the aforesaid dec. do make my son, Samuel Griffith my lawful heir of my part of my husbands will to enjoy the same after my decease. It is my desire that my son Samuel Griffith pay these several gifts after my decease:
  • to Elizabeth Miles 500 pounds of tobacco.
  • to Mary Bowers 500 pounds of tobacco.
  • To Sarah Devall 1,000 pounds of tobacco.
  • to Rebecca Mobley 500 pounds of tobacco.
  • to Rachel Giles 1,000 pounds of tobacco.
