Grandchild #3 Johannes Peter, age 13, unmarried
According to this census, Johann Heinrich married Anna Margaretha Evels by 1797, from the more southern colony of Müller, and their son Johann Peter was born the following year. Because of the large gap between the birth of Johann Peter and his next child, Anna Margaretha Evels was probably not the mother of any other of his identified children.
In 1834, Johann Heinrich's wife's name was Elisabeth Margaretha. Since divorce was rare in the Volga villages, first wife Anna Margaretha had probably passed away. Usually when there are two wives, the name of the mother is listed next to each child's name in the census. That was not done here, and the only child born to his first wife was deceased. By 1834, the oldest child of Johann Heinrich and his second wife was 26, giving him a birth year of 1808, meaning widower Johann Heinrich had remarried no later than 1807. This means his first wife, Anna Margaretha Evels, passed away at least by 1807, if not earlier.
