George Everhart, orginally from Germany, was residing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania when he enlisted in the Revolutionary War. He was aboard the Hyder Allyn when they engaged in battle with the General Monk, near the entrance of the Delaware Bay.

After the war, George and his wife Brenda settled in the Jones Spring area (near present day Hedgesville). The Cemetery is on the site of the former George Everhart Farm (currently on the Ward Nicklin property) and members of the Everhart-Kees family have erected a fence and preserved the family burial area.
