Perethena Everitt was born in Mifflin, Pennsylvania in 1793, the daughter of Abel Johnson Everitt, a Revolutionary War Patriot, and Briget McMordie. Perethena married James Nelson Meteer. They had at least ten children. James died in 1848. Perethena died, aged 75, in Franklin, Ohio in 1868, and is buried with her husband at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Hilliard, Ohio.[1]
In 1850, the Meteer family lived in Perry Township, Franklin, Ohio. The household included Perintha Meteer, 55, born in Pennsylvania, who had $8000 in real estate; her children, all born in PA, except as noted: Washington, 25, a farmer; Perintha, 22; Samuel, 21, farmer; Martha, 19, in school; Franklin, 17, farmer, in school; Robert, 15, born in Ohio, a farmer, in school; and David, 13, born in Ohio, in school. Also, living with them was Robert Gray, 24, born in PA, a farmer.[2]
In 1860, the Meteer family lived on their farm in Perry Township, Ohio. The family included Perthena Meteer, 66, who had $4800 in real estate and $294 in personal estate; her children, Perthena, 32; Franklin, 20, with $200 in personal estate (PE); Robert G., 24, a painter, with $280 in PE; and David A., 22, with $260 in PE. Also, Caleb Donaldson, 30, a laborer, with $2000 in RE, and $50 in PE; and Nancy Wilson, 13, a servant.[3]
