Born: 15 Jun 1840. Thornton Dale, Yorkshire England
Benjamin was born in 1840 probably at the family home in Brook Lane, Thornton Dale. The day and month reference comes from his employment record for the railway but the year of 1839 is in error and doesn't agree with birth registration or the 1841 census. [1]

Baptism: He was baptised at the parish church in Thornton on 12 Jul 1840. "Son of George and Eleanor Cockerill of Thornton - father's occupation is carpenter". [2]

He passed away in 1875. [8]

He was buried on 1 Oct 1875 at Elworth, Cheshire described as "aged 34 of Longsight". [9]
