MERGE NOTE

During the merge of duplicates Colyn-66 into Colijn-20 there were conflicting parents. I replaced Johannes Colyn (Colijn-18) with Bastiaen Colyn (Colyn-29) [father putative] and Elsje Colyn (Van Hoff-6) with Maria Everts (Everts-273) as can be read on the baptism of Evert Colyn 13 Oct 1700. [1]

Baptism

Den 29 dito (Martij)
Maria Everts swartinne met haar kint Anna
De name des vaders onbekent [2]
29 March 1676: Baptised "Maria Everts Swartinnen met haar kint Anna ..." [3]
These are the freed heeslag Cape-born Maria Everts: aka "Swarte Maria" (c. 1663-1713) [daughter of Evert van Guinea & Hoen/a aka Anna van Guinea, slaves originally belonging to the Cape's 1st VOC commander Jan van Riebeeck & step-daughter of Pai Claes van Guinea] & her free-born voordochter [father unknown] later found recorded as Anna Maria Colijn ... Just prior to the double baptism Swarte Maria is convicted (22 March 1679) for harbouring a runaway slave ... [3]
Thereafter she marries (5 November 1679) the baptised free-black Jackje 'Joij' van Angola aka Gracias van Angola but the couple are soon legally separated (3 July 1680) after her husband accuses her of trying to poison him ... [3]
Her voordochter Anna Maria Colijn later baptises an illegitimate son Hendrik Eksteen by the free-burgher Heinrich Oswald Eckstein [Eksteen] (1678-1747) from Lobenstein in Thuringia [Saxony] who had only just recently married (13 July 1704) the free-born castiça Zara / Sara Heyns (c. 1685-1713) ... [Mansell Upham] [3]
