Obituary published in the West Wyalong Advocate:

OBITUARY MR. T. J. EWERS We regret to record the death of Mr. Thomas John Ewers, of Ungarie, the sad event taking place at his residence on Saturday morning last. The deceased gentleman, who had reached the age of 64 years, had been ailing for the past two years.

The late Mr. Ewers was a native of South Australia, spending his young life in the Alma district. At the age of 18 years he entered the South Australian railway service, in which he remained for 26 years, during which period he was stationed at various towns, including eight years at Mount Gambier and eight years at Quorn. He left the service, in 1918, and come to Ungarie, where he acquired interests in the "Belle forest" property, where he carried on farming and grazing pursuits until ill-health compelled his retirement two years ago.

The late Mr. Ewers was a man of high character, kindly and neighborly disposition, and possessed many estimable qualities -which won for him the esteem and appreciation of a wide circle of friends. He gave his practical support to all movements for the welfare and advancement of that portion of the district, and general regret is expressed at his passing.

On Sunday afternoon, the Rev, It. A. Simes conducted a short service in the Methodist Church, Ungarie after which the funeral cortege (which was one of the largest and most representative witnessed at Ungarie) proceeded to the Ungarie cemetery, where the remains were interred in the Methodist portion. The Rev. R. A. Simes officiated at the graveside, and the mortuary arrangements were in the hands of Messrs R. and G. Stephenson, West Wyalong. Deceased is survived by Mrs. Ewers, two sons (William, of West Wyalong, and Leonard, of "Belle forest," Ungarie) and two daughters 'Mrs. G. Wallder. junr, and Miss Myra Ewers, of Ungarie). Brothers are Charles and Alfred, of Victoria, and George of Condobolin, and a sister is Mrs. Smythe, of South Australia. [1]

Probate packet is held at NSW State Records. Item No. Pre A 110095 [20/2205]
