James Ewing was born in 1873 at Dungannon, County Tyrone, Ireland. He was the son of John Ewing and Marion Johnston[1].
James's father died in 1880 and he was left a significant bequest to ensure he had a "good start in life". James moved to Leeds, England in the 1890s and trained as a Doctor.
In the 1901 England census James was age 28 living at Leopold Street, Potter Newton, Leeds, Yorkshire, England as a boarder. Occupation Medical Student[2].
James married Jessie Thompson Wilkie in 1903 at Birkenhead, Cheshire, England[3].
James and Jessie probably only had one child: James A Ewing (b. 1911).
In the 1911 England census James was age 38 living at Leeds, Yorkshire, England with his wife Jessie Thompson Ewing (38). Also 2 servants. Occupation Physician and Surgeon[4].
