Catherine Jane Florence Ewing was born in 1880 in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of Samuel Ewing and Elizabeth McFadden[1].
In the 1901 Ireland census Catherine J F Ewing was age 21, living at Cliftonpark Avenue, Clifton, Belfast with her parents Samuel Ewing (45), a builder, Elizabeth Ewing (41) and siblings William J Ewing (23), a carpenter, Samuel Ewing (19), a bricklayer, Lily Ewing (16), Sarah Ewing (14), Robert W Ewing (11), Norman J Ewing (7) and Charles A Ewing (5). Also Jane H Dornan (18), domestic servant[2].
In the 1911 Ireland census Catherine J F Ewing was age 30, living at Cardigan Drive, Clifton, Belfast with her parents Samuel Ewing (56), a builder and contractor, Elizabeth Ewing (51) and siblings Sara M Ewing (24), clerk at builder's office, Robert W Ewing (21), carpenter, Norman J Ewing (17) and Charles A Ewing (15)[3].
Lewis Alexander Sherry, a widowed grocer from Belfast married Catherine Jane Florence Ewing of Belfast on 8 March 1916, at Belfast, County Antrim[4]. Norman James Ewing, Catherine's brother, was one of the witnesses. Lewis had four children from his first marriage: Lewis Alexander, George, Eileen and Muriel.
