William Grant Fagan was born in March 1829 in Pennsylvania, his father, Aseph Fagan, was 19 and his mother, Elizabeth Litzinger, was 25. [1]
William married Letitia Curwin probably in about 1853 based on the birth of their first child. In the 1860 US Census, William and Letitia have the following children: Robert who is 6 in 1860; Ann Elizabeth is 3; John H is 2 and Margaret is 5 months. [2]
On 12 Sept 1862 William enlisted in the US Army with the rank of private. He was in Company F, Pennsylvania, 18 Infantry Regiment. See sourcB862 in Harrisburg, PA. He was promoted to corporal on March 1, 1865. William survived the war. [9]
On 18 May 1874 William married Margaret Jane Bennett. [10] Since his first wife Letitia did not die until 4 March 1892 [11] one has to assume that William and Letitia divorced.
In the 1900 census William and Margaret are living in Jackson, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. William is 71 and Margaret is 69. [12]
William died on July 6, 1904, in Pennsylvania, having lived a long life of 75 years. His burial location is unknown at this point. [13]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
