(Jan 1948). ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT. ENGAGEMENT of Virginia Ann Stott and Stuart William Fairbairn announced today will be celebrated at a party to be given by Virginia's parents, Dr and Mrs Ronald Stott, at their home in Mernda rd, Kooyong, this evening. Stuart, who is the elder son of Captain and Mrs G. A. Fairbairn, formerly of Logan Downs, Queensland, has just completed his Bachelor of Science course at Melbourne University, while Virginia, who is an old St Catherine's girl, is in the middle of a course at Burnley Horticultural College.

WEDDING REPORT. BISHOP WEDS PAIR AT TOORAK. St John's Church, Toorak, was the setting for the marriage yesterday of Virginia Ann, only daughter of Dr and Mrs Ronald Stott, of Kooyong, and Stuart William Hastings, elder son of Captain and Mrs G. A. Fairbairn, of Ocean Grove. A lace bertha draped the shoulders of the bride's gown of white organdie over satin, fashioned on simple princess lines and lent by Mrs George McCrae. Her tulle veil, lent by Mrs David Syme, was held in, place with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried stephanotis. The bridesmaids wore full skirted frocks of tea-rose net over satin, and they carried bouquets of autumn-toned hydrangeas. They were Miss Rosemary Maxwell, Miss Betty Beaurepaire, and the bride's cousin, Miss Judith Stott. The bridegroom was attended by Mr John Sproule, the bride's brother Ron, and Mr Fred Fairbairn. After the ceremony, at which Bishop Riley, of Bendigo, officiated, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.
