Archibald, if that is actually his name, is estimated to have been born some time around 1735, possibly on the Borders, either on the Scottish side, or Northumberland, England.
He may, or may not be the Archibald who married Marion Dickson at Smailholm in 1756. [1][2]
This tenuous connection being from recent (Dec 2023) exploration of the family of Isabel (Fairbairn) Oliver (1767-abt.1839), Isabel being "of Smailholm" when she married James Oliver in 1792.[3]
The y67 test for the documented descendant of Robert Fairbairn (abt.1729-aft.1771) could not be upgraded to BigY unfortunately, but is a good match at that level.
If you are, or know of, a direct male line descendant of Robert Fairbairn, please get in touch, we have a "test the water" starter yDNA y37 test on offer for you.Henderson-2297
