Biography

Intro

See John's page on the FAIRBAIRN One Name Study for some further analysis on which family John may belong to and why some of the children are linked as shown here.
With daughter Christian Nisbet FAIRBAIRN also marrying a FAIRBAIRN (James, son of Ralph FAIRBAIRN & Helen CROW), perhaps there is a connection to that family?[1]

DNA

We would love to know which FAIRBAIRN line John belongs to.
Hopefully one of the many maching lines we know exist on the Scottish Borders.
Although we have a Family Finder test from a descendant, a direct male line FAIRBAIRN descendant is sill needed.
Please see the Wanted! page of the FAIRBAIRN One Name Study for further information.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with John:
