Biography

Stuart, known as Bill, was the 2nd son of Helen Elizabeth Maclean and Ernest Fairbairn.

He enlisted WWII, serial no 13730, rank - Sapper, unit - 19 Army TPS Company. He embarked with the 2nd NZEF 1940-41.

Bill worked as a registered electrician living in Dunedin for many years.

In 1944 Bill married Elvina, known to all as Vina, at St Peter's Anglican Church. Six children were born in their marriage.

Bill later moved to Christchurch without Vina, and took employment as a clerk.

He eventually returned to Dunedin and his last place of residence was the Montecillo War Home.

Bill died in 1998 age 78. His ashes are interred at Greenpark Cemetery, RSA section, Dunedin.
