WEDDING (1) REPORT. MR. CLIVE FAIRBAIRN TO MISS MARJORY JOWETT. The Presbyterian Church, Toorak, was the scene of a most picturesque wedding on Thursday, January 9, when two of the members of well-known Toorak families were united. The bridegroom was Mr. Clive Prell Fairbairn, only son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fairbairn, "Dunraven," Toorak, and eldest grandson of the late Mr. F. W. Prell (in his day one of the most prominent figures in commercial and pastoral circles in Queensland and Victoria). The bride was Miss Marjory Rose Jowett, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Jowett, "Manningham," Albany-road, Toorak. The day was an ideal one, and a large number of guests and interested spectators witnessed the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. John Macrae. . . .
(Aug 1939). DIVORCE. DIVORCED AT SYDNEY. SYDNEY. Monday.—Clive Prell Fairbairn petitioned for a divorce from his wife Marjorie Rose Fairbairn, before Mr Justice Boyce in the Divorce Court today. The marriage took place at Toorak, Melbourne, on January 9, 1939 [sic, 1913]. Fairbairn claimed that his wife had deserted him. A restitution order had been issued against her but she had refused to obey the order. He was granted a decree nisi. Mrs Fairbairn did not defend the suit.

WEDDING (2) REPORT. Quiet Wedding At Scots Church. A wedding; of interest to country people was celebrated quietly at Scots Church, Collins Street, last week, when Mrs Phyllis Mary Eckford, Merrimu, Point Lonsdale, became the wife of Mr Clive Prell Fairbairn, Woomargama, Albury. MRS ROWLAND HOPE, Geelong, attended Mrs Eckford, who wore a deep green ensemble of fine angora. Her hat was of raisin brown antelope softened by a matching veil and matched her accessories, and she wore a spray of orchids and lilies-of-the-valley and a string of pearls given by her husband as a wedding present. She was given away by her brother, Lieutenant D. Shuter. Mr Tony Fairbairn acted as best man for his father. After the ceremony relatives and close friends were entertained at a cocktail party at Menzies Hotel. Sir George and Lady Fairbairn, and Mrs M. S. Shuter were among those present.
