Biography

Jane was baptised in 1797 in Sproatley, Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of James and Jane Fairbank.^[1]

In 1819 Jane married William Blashill in Withernwick, Yorkshire, England. He was resident in Easington and she was of Withernwick.^[2]

Their children were:

• Betsy, baptised 1820 in Holmpton^[3]
• Francis, 1824^[4]
• Mary Jane, 1828^[5]
• James, 1830.^[6]

By 1851 the Blashill family had emigrated to Canada West and lived in Louth, Lincoln county, where William worked as a farmer.^[7] They lived in Dorchester, Elgin county, Ontario, in 1861^[8] and had moved to Malahide, Elgin, by 1871.^[9]
