Elias Fairbanks was born at Winthrop, Maine (then in Massachusetts), on 18 Dec 1783. The transcription of his birth record made by the Winthrop town clerk does not give his parents' names,[1] but another record (probably a baptismal record, with the date 19 Dec 1783) gives their names as Joseph and Sibbel Fairbanks.[2] His marriage record, which gives his place of birth, says that he was 26 years old in 1809.[3] Another record of the marriage also says he was born at Winthrop on 18 Dec 1783.[4]
