Canton - Alice Marie Hallam, 94, of rural Canton died at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton.
She was born October 12, 1918 in Canton, to Terrance and Nellie Pearl (Weaver) Fairburn. She married Earnest Hallam in 1938 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1973.
She is survived by six children, Virginia (Donald) Tucker of Galesburg, Elizabeth (Lawrence) Sparrow of Winter Haven, FL, Kathleen Neidig of Canton, Eileen (Raymond) Whetstine of Urbana, OH, Donna Brush of Knoxville, and Shirley (John) Stevenson of Stover, MO; one brother, Delbert Fairburn of Astoria; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Claude Hallam, Dale Johnson, and Edith Marie Hallam; four brothers, Dwayne, Hubert, Merle and Bernard "Breezy" Fairburn; and two sisters, Lucille Lingenfelter and Leona Boyer.
Alice was a seamstress for Canton Manufacturing and she also formerly worked for Blue Bell in Bushnell. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton.
