Leonard Fairchild was born about 1932 in Mississippi, the son of Leonard J. Fairchild and Mamie Lucille (Cooper) Fairchild.
Leonard had two younger twin siblings, Billy Joe Fairchild (1935–2004) and Bonnie Jean (Fairchild) Cook (1935–2012).
The 1940 U.S. Census lists Leonard at the age of 8, with his parents and two younger siblings living in a rented home in Beat 4 of Lauderdale County, Mississippi where his father worked as a grocery clerk.[1]
