In his pension application dated 6 Aug 1834, Abijah gave his date and place of birth as 1763 in New Jersey. He related that he left New Jersey for Wilkes county, N.C. at about age five and continued to reside there. He served in the Revolutionary War approximately nine months and ten days on five different occasions. Abijah died before his pension was allowed, as Violate states this in her application for a widow's pension 28 Oct 1851.[1]
